Custom made equipment has been brought in to the island for the study and some of it will remain for the follow up examinations and treatment that Dr Bardfield will be doing. The treatment is to open up the glands and there will be a follow up in seven days, one month and three months for all the patients in the study, to make sure the glands stay open. Dr Korb will prepare a treatment regimen for patients to treat the condition.

Dr Korb says that he and his team were very impressed with the Health Authority of Anguilla approval of the study. He said that Dr Cestero and Dr Kassim interviewed them and reviewed their documentation very thoroughly, and approved the consent forms that patients used. Korb said that he compliments them for their thoroughness and they appreciate the procedure.

Dr Korb is one of the top ophthalmologists in the world, many years ago he invented the modern form of soft lenses. However, for the past thirty years he has been studying Dry Eye Syndrome and has developed many treatments for dry eyes and also the equipment used to identify it. He has recently invented Soothe, eye drops that replace the oil in the eye and soothe the eyes by restoring moisture and preventing tear loss.

The entire study is being financed by Kolis Scientific of North Carolina and Timothy Willis, the President and CEO of the company is in Anguilla for the study along with four research scientists.
