Good Ambassadors In Germany

News reports out of Germany indicate that the 25 senior football players, Anguilla’s Rainbow Warriors, and the officials accompanying them, are having a whale of a time, delighting the Germans and gathering experience as they watch and participate in the World Cup matches.

This has been a chance of a life-time made available to the Anguillian National Team, whose members are rubbing shoulders on the playing fields with more experienced and developed teams from whom they are learning many of the finer points and skills of the sport of football. The German press is full of praise for the Anguillians who have warmly been received and are being shown gleefully interacting with their new-found friends.

Anguilla’s Director of Tourism, Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch, and Rita Morozow of the Anguilla Tourist Board Office in Germany, joined in expressing their delight over the trip. “Anguilla is proud of you being our ambassadors of goodwill from a small island to a big country,” the players have been told. “You are bringing the charm of Anguilla and the warmth of the Anguillian people to Germany. We are confident that with you all being not only in Bad Neustadt but elsewhere on your tour, the image of Anguilla in Germany will change dramatically and by the end of your stay a lot more people will know about our island…Thank you for being the ambassadors of our island.”

A debt of gratitude is owed to the German organisers who afforded the Anguillians the opportunity to tour the European country and not only to witness the World Cup matches at firsthand, but actually to share in some of the games. That gratitude is also extended to the Anguilla Government, National Bank of Anguilla, Sunset Homes, Wind Drift Villas, Social Security and KT&T Services for their financial contributions which assisted greatly in making the tour possible.
As good ambassadors for Anguilla, the footballers tour of Germany can only have positive results for the island as a tourist destination and for their own self-development.
