Courtney Abel, Courtney Devonish, One Blood...One Love

There is always a mix-up when calling or writing the names of Courtney Abel and Courtney Devonish. Depending on what the subject is, the two things one has to remember are that the first is a Barrister-at-Law and Singer and the second an Artist, Sculptor and Exhibitionist and they are originally from Guyana and Barbados respectively.

But no wonder these two gentlemen, seen in the above rare photograph at Wallblake Airport, are so often mixed up by some persons. They in fact share a blood relationship, one family history, one love.
Here’s how the story goes: at the turn of the 20th century, a number of Guyanese migrants travelled to Barbados to work in the sugar industry and this resulted in the establishment of some very interesting family ties. Thus Mr. Abel’s great grandfather became Mr. Devonish’s great uncle and there are a set of Devonish uncles, other close relatives and enabling ties between the Abel and the Devonish families, making them one blood, one love.
