Three Students Promoted To Black Belt


The Anguilla Tae Kwondo Club held its bi-annual grading exams this year at the Road School on Sunday 7th May.

They were presided over by Grand Master Shin. Three students Thomas Peabody, Jasmine Douglas and Nicolas Douglas were promoted to the rank of Black Belt. 24 students were promoted from White Belt to Yellow Belt; 15 students from Yellow Belt to Green Belt , 7 students from Green Belt to Purple Belt; and 4 students from Purple Belt to Red Belt. Also, 5 students were promoted from Red Belt to Red Stripe Belt and 4 students from Red Stripe to Brown Belt.

The examinations were attended by parents, family and well wishers of the students of the Club and they were entertained with various breaking and self defence techniques from Emanuel Laud (4th degree Black Belt )and Edward Webster (2nd Degree Black Belt) and exhibitions by students.

The examination was attended by Mr. Othlyn Vanterpool Special Assistant to the Minister of Social Services, Hon. Mc. Neil Rogers, and who was off island. Mr. Vanterpool briefly addressed the students, their parents and Instructors congratulated them for their excellent display of skill and sportsmanship and for being successful in their examinations. The examination was also attended by Mr. Sutcliffe Hodge General Manager of Cable & Wireless (Anguilla) Limited which is a premium sponsor of the Club. After the exams the students and families enjoyed their usual bi-annual picnic at the Sandy Point Beach in Blowing Point.

Mr. Emanuel Laud the Instructor of the class, wishes to express his thanks to all the parents, Black Belts and students who assisted in preparing the students for their exams and who continue to show an interest in the successful running of the Club.
