Mr. Lloyd, who has adopted Anguilla to make sure that the national team is prepared for the competition, met with the association’s President, Benjamin Hughes, Captain of the team, Rommel Hughes and members at the Webster Park Pavilion on Sunday, April 9.
The retired cricketer said the meeting was to discuss matters relating to getting the team ready for the competition.
The Anguilla Cricket Association, like the other cricketing bodies in the region, was given US$100,000 by Antigua-based US financier and developer, Allen Stanford to purchase equipment for the development and upkeep of playing fields and other associated purposes.
According to Benjamin Hughes, the Cricket Association has so far ordered some equipment including covers for the pitch and a roller.
He said members of the national team had already begun to play some 20/20 practice games and very shortly a squad of 22 would be selected and eventually short-listed to 15 as the competition drew closer.
Among those at the meeting were the coach, Reginald Carty, Leslie Richardson, member of the Financial Committee overseeing the spending of the funds and other members of the association.
“We are all working together to make it a good experience for Anguilla, “said Mr. Hughes. “Hopefully we can go to Antigua against Barbados and pull it off.”
