Theatre Group For New York


The Caribbean Commercial Bank has donate EC$5000 to assist the All Ah Wee Young Theatre players to travel to and perform in New York. The cheque was presented to Miguel Franklin, one of the performers, on Tuesday, March 28, by Talitha Webster, Treasurer of CCB’s Trendsetters Social Club and Debit Card Officer.

Assistant Manager Research and Development, Trevor Woodley, said CCB’s mission was to promote the social development of the Anguillian Community in which the Bank serves.

He explained that theTrendsetters Social Club made a decision to contribute part of the proceeds from the CCB Talented Teen 2005 gate receipts to assist a youth organisation on the island that promotes community cultural development.
CCB has congratulated the All Ah Wee Young Theatre players as the first Awardees.

Coordinator of the group, Sarah Francis, said the Comprehensive School Theatre Players will leave Anguilla on April 10, on a eight-day tour.

They will be performing in a benefit concert at Paramount Theatre in Peekstill, New York. They will visit inter-city schools and communities with children of West Indian descent. There will also be motivational speeches and teach-ins about culture in Anguilla.

Ms Francis said up to thirty businesses had been approached for financial assistance to add to funds raised by the Theatre Group from a number of activities.

Those travelling to New York will be Josette Davis, Leah Hughes, Vernicia Hodge, Shellya Rogers, Ojeda Vanterpool, Miguel Franklin and Sarah Francis, coordinator.
