World Affairs Seminar


With the combined help of two Rotary Clubs -- the Rotary Club of Newark, Delaware, and the Rotary Club of Anguilla -- two school students from Anguilla will be attending the First Annual Caribbean World Affairs Seminar to be held in Puerto Rico, July 8 – 14, 2006.

A long-time visitor to Anguilla, Rotarian Jack Billingsley, from Delaware, brought the news that his club would sponsor one student for tuition and transportation to this all-important conference. The Rotary Club of Anguilla has matched the sponsorship for a second student.

Regine Niles and Jamila Morson, both from Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School, will attend the World Affairs Seminar, which is dedicated to the advancement of international goodwill and peace trough a better understanding of world problems. The theme of the seminar is “Global Leadership Rising Powers: Who Counts?” More information about the seminar can be found on their website: http://www.worldaffairsseminar.org.

A similar conference is held annually in Whitewater, Wisconsin, with 1250 students – 1000 from the United States and 250 international students. This is the first year that the conference is to be held in Puerto at the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico Recinto de San German.
