Founder of the Anguilla Tennis Academy, Mitchelle Lake, said the 30-second announcement was produced by Greg Travis of Travis Television in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Tennis Channel broadcasts to every state and to the top twenty television markets in the United States. The network champions the game with exclusive and comprehensive tournament coverage that matches the intensity of the sport’s competition schedule, according to Lake.
Asked to comment on the matter, he said that through the television partnership the Anguilla Tennis Academy would be exposed to millions of tennis enthusiasts around the world, thus making it an internationally-recognised tennis facility.
“I am grateful to the Tennis Channel for this gratis exposure,” Mr. Lake told The Anguillian. “This is a unique opportunity for the ATA, and I am happy to see the ATA giving back to Anguilla by exposing it to millions of homes around the world as a sports tourism destination.
“It is imperative that the local community continues to embrace and support this endeavour so that Anguilla, the facility and our children, can maximise the benefits to be derived from such partnerships.”
Mr. Lake said that drawing in millions of new fans each year, tennis has hosted an array of colourful personalities, from John McEncore, Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova and Jimmy Connors, to new idols like Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and Serena and Venus Williams.
