A strong belief in its motto “Dedicated to Discipline, Development and Diligence” has certainly been the key to success for the members of the All-Ah-Wee Young Theatre Players.

Eight years ago, this group was formed with an aim to develop, share and showcase the creative capabilities of its members and the community in general, especially the youth, through Performing Arts. We can surely say that we have been achieving our objective. We have seen our present and past members grow and produce exciting results.
We will not take all the credit. We must give thanks to God, the Anguillian community and business places, our overseas supporters, our fellow youths and families. With your support and the opportunities that you have given us to showcase our talent, we have matured and realised many of our dreams. We say a hearty thank you.
The time has come for us to move to the next level, because we will never settle for anything less than the best. There is always room for growth and improvement. To this end we have accepted an invitation to travel to New York, in April 2006, from Barbara Sarbin, President of the Board of Something Good in the World Inc. This is a non-profit educational organisation made up of parents and teachers in the New York area that help at risk children to achieve their highest level of learning and development potential. Barbara traveled to Anguilla with her husband and worked with All-Ah-Wee twice in the past. Kerith Kentish has represented the group in New York twice also. Now the whole group has been invited and we have accepted the offer.

All-Ah-Wee in performance
|
Since we are a non-profit group, we realise that we have a mammoth task ahead of us. We will have to undertake some very serious fundraising to cover our traveling expenses, uniforms, costumes for our performances and out of pocket expenses for a group of approximately 20 persons. But we know that we have a lot to offer and this learning experience is one we should not pass on. Therefore on Friday 21st October, we kick off our fundraising drive with a walk-a-thon through the east end of the island. Our goal is to raise some $5000.00 EC from this venture.
We have a tall order ahead of us but with hard work and your support we hope to be successful. Other fundraisers planned include a dance party and our play “Voices from the Ghetto” scheduled for early next year. We have been and are accepting donations of any value. With the problems that we are experiencing in the community right now we would like to be an example to others by putting our talents to good use. We would like to have this experience to add to what we can offer to this community.
For further information about this project, please contact any member of the All-Ah-Wee Young Theatre Players. We will keep you updated on our progress as we move ahead.
