When asked about life in South Korea, the differences and similarities between there and Anguilla and other parts of the Caribbean, he had this to say:
• Koreans always take off their shoes before entering their homes. In our culture this varies.
• Koreans work in groups. They always focus on group activities more than on individualism.
• They study and work longer hours. High school students study 12 hours per day. Supervisors, managers and ordinary workers put in 12 to 16 hours of work per day as well.
• They are a very mannerly, generous society.
• Rice is a major part of their diet as well as vegetables and meat.
• They value the family unit as a very integral part of the community.
• South Korea is a democratic society with 50 million people yet they enjoy a very low crime rate.
Mr. Fyffe has called his work “challenging and rewarding”. He says over the last five years he has experienced great joy in being able to lead people to the Lord.
When asked about his future plans he said he intends to return to Korea to continue his work at the Institute there.
Mr. Fyffe may be remembered by some as a teacher at the ALHCS, an Elder at the Mount Fortune SDA Church as well as an inspirational speaker at Radio Anguilla and the host of Dial-A-Prayer at the Caribbean Beacon.
