Derrys Reports Academic Achievements


Derrys Richardson, a 21-year-old Anguillian student at Bowie State University School of Business in Maryland, has reported on his most significant achievements since enrolling there in the fall of 2004.

The Management Information Systems major states that just after one semester he has been inducted into the National Honor Society in Business Administration – Delta Mu Delta – for having a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) above 3.25. Delta Mu Delta promotes higher scholarship in the training for business and recognises and awards scholastic attainment in business subjects. Membership provides recognition for lifetime and is the highest national recognition a student can earn.

“I have also been nominated and accepted by the National Dean’s List 2204/2005 to receive honorary award of recognition by having my biography published in the 28th annual edition of the National Dean’s List,” writes Derrys. “The National Dean’s List is the largest, most prestigious publication in the United States recognising gifted students, selected by their deans and other members of the institutions’ faculty. Only half of the one percent of the nation’s college students receives this award.

“In May I also received a resident scholar’s award for having a culmulative GPA above 3.0 along with 500 other students. Currently I serve as a Resident Assistant for University Housing and also as an adviser to the Hall Council. I am also an Alumni of the University of the Virgin Islands from which I graduated with my Associate of Arts degree in Computer Information Systems in 2004.”

Derrys is the son of Arnold and Audrey Richardson of Rendezvous Road in Anguilla.
