Health Services Really Moving |
The Editor
The Anguillian Newspaper
Dear Mr. Editor:
HEALTH SERVICES
REALLY MOVING
I was pleased to read in your informative paper excerpts from Dexter James’ report on the progress of the island’s health services delivered at the recent quarterly review and published on your well-laid out website.
I applaud the Health Authority of Anguilla for facing up to the awesome challenge of taking control of, and developing, the island’s health and medical services.
I am a nurse of Anguillian parentage (mother side) and frequently visit Anguilla manly during the August and Christmas seasons. I knew what the hospital was like so when I visited last Christmas, I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements there which are providing better accommodation for the nursing staff and better patient care. The health services seem to be really moving.
The Welches Polyclinic is a showpiece of varied health services in Anguilla. I do sincerely hope that somewhere else on the island, probably at West End in the tourism belt, a similar medical centre will be provided.
Dexter James’ report on the new facilities and services in the pipe-line at the hospital offers much hope for a greatly improved system of health services for Anguilla. Let us hope that these and other facilities and services will materialize quickly. Probably I may be attracted to work in Anguilla one day after paying for my schooling – who knows?
