Cap Juluca Wins Wedding Competition

Cap Juluca Hotel in Anguilla has won the special destination wedding competition hosted by NBC, one of America’s leading television networks. The local resort emerged winner after one week of voting, via the internet, for four finalists selected from among some 100 competing properties in the United States and Canada. The three other finalists were Le Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, Canada; Lake Placid in New York State and Biltmore Estate in Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.

The destination wedding is expected to take place in Anguilla in November when NBC will run a special three-hour show on the island and Cap Juluca. Manager of the hotel, Eustace Guishard, speaking by telephone on Wednesday from the resort’s marketing office in Miami, paid glowing tribute to his staff for their hard work and for maintaining the high standards of service at the hotel which were key factors in its success in the competition.

He was also grateful to all who voted for Cap Juluca everywhere. He made the point that the tremendous marketing benefits were not only for the hotel but the island on a whole. He was also grateful for the many messages of congratulations received from many persons in Anguilla and outside the island.

Executive Director of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, Mimi Gratton, said her office was extremely thrilled. “Obviously this is great for Cap Juluca, but it is not just for that hotel. It is for all Anguilla,” she commented. “It is a tremendous opportunity for all of the members of the Hotel and Tourism Association. This is an opportunity that we could never even have hoped to get in Anguilla.

“This is worth millions of dollars of exposure, marketing and advertising. It is so significant and I really hope that everybody [in the industry] would take this opportunity to do what they can to benefit from this as well.”
