Dart Club Raises Money For Boy's Heart Surgery |
Ripples Dart Club and friends held a raffle to raise funds for 12-year- old Jason Richardson of West End who has to undergo open heart surgery. Funds raised amounted to US$2000.00 which Jacquie Ruan, owner of Ripples, handed to Rolf Masshardt of La Sirena Hotel on Tuesday May 11.
Daphne Richardson, Jason’s mother, works at La Sirena and Mashardt is depositing the cheque to her account. She formerly worked at Ripples and Jacquie says she is a very hard working mother which gave them the incentive to hold the raffle. She says she wished they could have doubled the amount but she is very pleased with customers and friends who rallied around in time of need.
The raffle prizes were dinner for two at Ripples, dinner for two at Picante, a double sail on Chocolat catamaran and wine from Grand Vin de France. Winners were Jim Fisher, Peter Halloran, Statia and Julie, Nigel Donaldson and Jos and Angela Lampe.
In addition to the raffle funds, John Donahue, a civil engineer who is in Anguilla to work on the airport extension, had his head shaved to raise money and succeeded in raising US$500.00.
Jason and his mother Daphne are currently in Jamaica where he is undergoing blood tests as he also has a blood problem. He will probably have the operation in Jamaica at a cost of US$30,000. Several other businesses on the island are contributing to the cost of the operation.
