|
A press conference at Callaloo Villas and the Angulla Yacht Club at Cul de Sac linked up to artistes in the United States was told that the 14th annual Moonsplash Music Festival here April 1-4 will be a grand affair.
Some 30 entertainers from the United States and Jamaica are expected to join Bankie Banx in the delivery of his Moonsplash Festival at the Dune Preserve at Rendezvous Bay where some 3,000 people can be accommodated.
This year the event will be hosted by Bankie Banx at a cost of some US$86,000. He has expressed thanks in particular to the National Bank of Anguilla for contributing a generous donation for the event which will be of much tourism value to the island in terms of increased visitors during the period.
He is grateful to the Anguilla Government for its cooperation in providing Customs and Immigration services for the visiting yachts which will be allowed to use the moorings just outside the Yacht Club which its owner, Gianfranco Camparetti, has made available to him.
“Bankie has prepared another extraordinary musical feast for Moonsplash 2004,” a press release from the Dune Preserve stated. “From the reggae heartlands of Jamaica, Bankie welcomes two of reggae’s most enduring and celebrated bands, Culture and Third World to headline the Friday and Saturday night Moonsplash Main stage Concerts.”
The release noted that Bankie Banx “the Maestro of Moonsplash himself will stir the musical pot with his unique blend of folk, jazz, blues and reggae flavours.” He will be celebrating his latest CD Chariots of Steel.
Sunday April 4 will be the grand beach party at Rendezvous Bay where there will be a folk, food and arts and crafts fair. The events will include a wind surf and kite surf race across the channel between St. Martin and Anguilla and a local sun fish race. Smokey & The Uprising Stars along with Sheriff Bob & The Goodtimers will provide the entertainment for the occasion.
