Optimist Race Against AIDS

In an ongoing drive to heighten the awareness of the general public on Anguilla’s Race Against AIDS, organizers of this event and members of the Optimist Club of Anguilla will be conducting a door to door campaign on 16 June 2003, The Queen’s Birthday holiday.

The participants in this campaign will be visiting the homes of as many persons as possible from 9:00am until 5:00pm, on Monday 16, requesting an EC$5.00 donation in support of Anguilla’s Race Against AIDS , and sharing information about this event scheduled for Sunday 30 November 2003.
Optimist members will also be collecting donations from all interested persons at the Ronald Webster Park on Monday 16 June, the same day as the door to door campaign.

Members of the public are encouraged to support the organizers of Anguilla’s Race Against AIDS in their fund raising efforts, as they work with the Optimist Club of Anguilla to make this event an overwhelming success.

Anguilla Race Against AIDS is endorsed by the Government of Anguilla, The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, The Anguilla Tourist Board and the Anguilla Amateur Athletic Federation, and is being supported by many civic and business groups and organizations on the island. All members of the public are being encouraged to donate generously.

This charity event offers the opportunity for all levels of runners and walkers of varying ages to participate. By involving all sectors of the community, the Optimist Club of Anguilla and the Organisers of Anguilla Race Against AIDS , hope to heighten the awareness and understanding of the local and regional communities as it regards HIV/AIDS and help to reduce the stigma associated with this world-wide scourge.
