There is no doubt that seatbelts can save lives. Studies show that proper use of seatbelt restraints can greatly reduce the risk of death or serious injury in the event of a collision or roll-over. Modern vehicles come equipped with very sophisticated safety systems which reflect many years of research into the best methods of protecting the occupants of the vehicle and saving lives in the event of a mishap. It is therefore a great pity that most drivers still choose to totally ignore these safety measures and choose not to buckle up.

Powers and Privileges Of The House Of Assembly - Part 2

The members of the House of Assembly have the right to conduct their meetings in a peaceful atmosphere, free from threats or intimidation. Section 8 of the Act deals with attempts to disrupt the meetings of the House of Assembly. Any person who comes to the House in a group of twelve or more persons, and behaves in a “riotous, tumultuous or disorderly manner”, may be convicted of a crime. Any person who incites others to act in such a manner may similarly be held liable.

While some countries tolerate public profanity and topless bathing, for instance, our laws still frown on these activities and make them punishable offences. This is no doubt a reflection of the deeply embedded morals which are a hallmark of Anguillian society.
