C & W Donates To Volleyball Association

Cable & Wireless in Anguilla has made a donation of US$500 to the Anguilla Amateur Volleyball Association to assist with the upcoming OECS tournament on the island.
In making the presentation, the company’s Chief Executive, Sutcliffe Hodge, said it was not a very significant donation, but was a symbolic gesture of Cable & Wireless’ commitment to community development. He wished that the company was able to make a greater contribution, noting that young people “were crying out for support and programmes of structured extra-curriculum activities.”

Anguilla Day was celebrated with much pomp and ceremony on Tuesday June 1 as uniformed bodies converged on the Ronald Webster Park for the official parade witnessed by many officials and members of the private and public sectors. The parade comprised contingents from the Police, Scouts and Guides, Cub Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Pathfinders, Boys and Girls Brigade and Cadets. The various organisations were inspected by Chief Minister, Osbourne Fleming, accompanied by Commissioner of Police Keithly Benjamin and Parade Commander, Allan Carty.

As part of that process the Head of Political and Economic Relations and Public Affairs at the Canadian High Commission in Barbados, Michael Haduck, visited the island this week for talks with Government officials and other key persons including members of the media.
