Freemasons Donate Needed Funds To Anguillian Organisations

As part of its outreach and public relations programme, the Freemasons Association of Anguilla, which encompasses seven Masonic Lodges and Chapters working on the island, has donated a total of US$5,000 shared between two local organisations.

One of the two fortunate recipients is the Arijah Children’s Foundation, established in Anguilla in August 2006 as a non-profit organisation dedicated to assisting children with special needs.

Foreign researchers come to Anguilla to research the island’s past and present, to research prehistoric rats the size of pigs, caves, Amerindian sites, flora, fauna, and even shipwrecks. As one of these researchers fortunate enough to come to Anguilla and research the island’s rich heritage, I have often been asked how I ended up with the opportunity to write my PhD in such a paradise.

It was a hot issue in Anguilla as well as in Antigua from late last week when the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, said his Government had made loans to the two islands in the amounts of 12 million and 24 million dollars respectively. He was reported to have made the statement at a political rally in the run-up to the general election taking place there on Friday, this week. He was reportedly heard saying that he was able “to give’ the money due to his prudent management of Dominica’s finances.
