The award of Employee of the Year given to Marino Hodge of the Landscaping Department at Cuisinart Resort and Spa, by the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, has been separately celebrated by his employers, fellow workers and guests.

The Fourth Anniversary of the Good News Herald, a monthly religious newspaper printed in St. Maarten and circulated in various Caribbean islands, was celebrated in Anguilla with a Thanksgiving Service at the Church of God (Holiness) on December 4. The programme was chaired by Pastor Jerome Harrigan who also gave the welcome, while the Invocation was delivered by the Minister responsible for the Church, Pastor Philip Gumbs.

A two-member survey team with the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation, Dr. Robert Drury and Ms Conny Menger, began a four-day evaluation of the Health Authority of Anguilla on Monday this week. The aim is to have the island’s health services accredited by December 2006.

Digicel recently donated air conditioning units to the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home in Anguilla. Stephenie Brooks, Digicel’s Marketing Manager, says the air conditioners will assist in the overall comfort and well being of the home’s residents. It is the company’s way of expressing its appreciation for the contributions these residents have made to the development of the island and its people.

A vegetable farmer in Anguilla is getting good results from his agricultural gardening and is a leading supplier to the local market. He is Prince Jahkeda who resides at Rey Hill but has his Organic Valley Farms at The Quarter, just down from his residence.
He turned up at The Anguillian showcasing a six-and-a-half pound head of fully-developed cauliflower which was only a small fraction of a mixed crop of vegetables waiting to be harvested.

Three young members of the TaeKwando Club in Anguilla have qualified for black belts having passed the required practical exams at the Road School Auditorium on Sunday, December 11. They were examined by Grandmaster Chin who frequently comes to the island to review and grade the skills of club members.
