The Caribbean Commercial Bank is one of the five-star sponsors of the National Sports Awards to be presented to a number of deserving persons on February 24 at LA Café. The Bank has contributed US$2,000 in sponsorship funds.

If there is ever one thing that Darwin Hazell, Principal of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, will cherish long after his retirement, will be the high esteem and love he was accorded by his teaching staff during his years of service there.
Always wishing to show their high regard for him, they re-named Valentine’s Day as Principal’s Day in his honour, though keeping largely the traditional colours of the February 14 occasion.

A four-day workshop aimed at strengthening laboratory services in the private and public sectors opened in Anguilla on Tuesday, January 31, at the Teachers’ Resource Centre. The Royal Anguilla Police Force observed its 34th Anniversary last week under the theme Police and the Community the Right Mix for Police Week 2006. For the first time, the organising committee came up with the idea of an activity “for children only” as part of its week of activities.

Another milestone in the history of the Social Security System was observed this week: the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the Social Security Office on February 1st 1981 with the employment of its first member of staff, Mr. Timothy Hodge. The opening of the Office followed the passage of the Social Security Act No. 13 of 1980 on November 3rd 1980, and the appointment of the first Social Security Board on January 22nd 1981.

Anguilla’s Acting Chief Minister, Victor Banks, says the mission of the Government and people of the island must now be “forward and upward, growing from strength to strength.”
