The Anguilla Tourist Board has secured the services of Anguilla Access to undertake the destination’s social media and website relations in 2012.

Former Director of Tourism, Mrs. Amelia Vanterpool-Kubisch, the second winner of the Pioneer Award for 2011, came in for special mention at the Tourism Gala Awards Ceremony at Viceroy on Thursday, December 1.

The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) and the Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB) climaxed their joint celebration of Tourism Week 2011 with the Annual Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at Coba Restaurant at Viceroy on Thursday, December 1. The event brought together a large number of industry partners in the public and private sectors, sponsors and other persons.

The Anguilla Tourist Board and the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association are partnering in a public awareness campaign to emphasise the importance of the tourism industry to the island’s economy and the livelihood of its people.

The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has reviewed and approved the release of Anguilla’s Sustainable Tourism Masterplan (STMP) according to Dr Aidan Harrigan, Permanent Secretary of Tourism.

Twenty delegates from the Caribbean Tourism Organisation Conference held in St Martin last week were hosted to breakfast at Paradise Cove on Sunday September 18 followed by a tour of the island.

Executive Chef at CuisinArt Resort & Spa, Denise Carr, says the hotel’s recently-introduced Chef’s Table is a special feature which all guests should like. One reason is that the intimacy it provides enables them to know and have a social interaction with each other.

The Anguilla Tourist Board conducted a seminar in its efforts to educate and increase awareness of Anguilla’s product, for concierge staff entitled, “Anguilla Bountiful Beaches and So Much More.” The seminar began at 11:00 am at the Tourist Board conference room on October 29.

The main period of the tourist season is over but there are still a large number of visitors in Anguilla and others are continuing to come.

The Anguilla Tourist Board successfully launched it 2007 marketing initiatives in the Puerto Rican market with participation (for the first time) in the Caribbean Bridal Expo held at the San Juan Convention Centre during February 11-12 2007. The ATB seized the opportunity to showcase the island as the ideal place for destination weddings and honeymoons.

Massive Conference Centre Coming

Anguillian hotel developer, Quincy Gumbs, waved his hand towards his sprawling tourism project and said in a voice filled with confidence: “I am trying and someday I will reach there.”

The Special Assistant for Tourism, in the Chief Minister’s Office, Donna Banks, and Chairman of the Tourist Board, John Benjamin, are in London attending a two-day Policy Workshop on Caribbean Tourism.

Anguilla received unprecedented coverage in its major markets with the release of an advertising video for the 2003 Tranquility Jazz Festival.

The second edition of the St. Maarten/St. Martin Annual Regional Tradeshow (SMART) took place from April 23-25, 2003 at Maho Beach Resort, St. Maarten.

The outlook for April is positive. So says Anguilla Tourist Board officials, based on an informal telephone survey of the major properties on the island.

According to information from the Statistics Unit in Anguilla, hotel occupancy rates for January to December 2002 averaged 32.3% compared to 30.5% in 2001 and 31.3% in 2000. Tourist arrivals to Anguilla in 2002 performed sluggishly all year. This type of visitor saw an 8.3% decline in arrivals from 2001.
