Family and friends, mainly from the Island Harbour area, gathered around Clemence Lake, an inmate at the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens’ Home, on Sunday, September 11, to celebrate her 99th birthday.

Cap Juluca Resort was the venue of a beach wedding, this month, of Ayanna Twanna Maiai Gumbs of Anguilla and Antony Davis Norales Majia of Trujillo, Central Honduras.

The Connor-Reid family at South Hill is one of the largest families in Anguilla. They held their second reunion in seven years during the period August 6 - 13 with many of them, adults and children, returning home from various parts of the world.

Orin Fyffe returned to Anguilla for a short visit after being in South Korea as a missionary for the last five years. Mr. Fyffe is a missionary teaching English and Religious Studies at SamYook Language Institute. He preaches in various churches, takes part in Mission Day Programmes and conducts Bible classes and other religious activities.

Mrs. Claudia S. Donovan of the White Hill, Anguilla graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business with a double concentration in Economics and Management from Bowie State University (BSU).

An Anguillian physician specialist who has just completed a short vacation on the island, has his sights fixed on returning home one day.

The family of the Late Atlin Noraldo Harrigan acknowledge and thank the people who stood by him and supported him in his political struggles during the early days of Anguilla’s secession from St.Kitts and Robert L. Bradshaw. The family also recognize and thank those who stood by him as he battled with his foes on the home front for democracy.

Charissa-Ann Joseph, an Anguillian student at the St. Croix Campus of the University of the Virgin Islands, has made it to the Dean’s List having done very well in her first year of studies.

A job placement stint arranged at the Tourist Board for Anguillian Chrislyn E. Connor, when she was 16 years and a student at the Comprehensive School, has resulted in her achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management.

The caring staff at the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizen’s Home organised a party for one of the inmates, Hilda Gumbs, who celebrated her 90th birthday on May 10.

It seemed like yesterday - though far back in time - when the medical staff at Cottage Hospital welcomed our new colleague Mr. Claudio Hodge to the fold. Claud, as he is affectionately known, was employed as an Orderly, on 1st October 1990, and carried out his assigned duties mostly unsupervised.

The Anguilla Tourist Board, through its Portfolio Marketing Group in the United States, has just published a new magazine under the re-brand slogan for the island’s tourism industry, Feeling is Believing. One section of the promotional publication is about love and marriage, encouraging couples from abroad to have their weddings and honeymoons in Anguilla.

Turtle Cove, one of Anguilla’s beauty spots, just under the hillside at Malliouhana Hotel & Spa, was the venue for the wedding of Timothy Michael Bailey and Victoria Lilian James (Tim and Tori) of Connecticut on Saturday, May 7.
