On Friday evening (18th March),the ANGLEC Shockers electrocuted Sports and left everyone at courtside in awe with a score of 20, 25; 25, 20 and 15, 8. Sports, the double defending Champions, were severely castigated by their calculating opponents with good passes and precise blocking. Consequently they were bumped to the third seed of the playoffs.

Approximately 3,000 athletes from over 200 teams competed at the 35th staging of the Gibson Relays in Jamaica, on the new track inside the National Stadium on March 12. Although the shifting of the date from February 26 to March 12 has affected the participation of teams from overseas, Bermuda, Martinique and Birmingham, London, still made the Gibson Relays a sure stop on their calendar for the season.

As the 2011 Volleyball Business League continues some teams are making their push for the playoffs. On Friday evening, Construction upset the previously undefeated Sports with a score of 25, 23; 22, 25; 15, 8.

The Caribbean Commercial Bank-sponsored Cricket League, involving various teams in Anguilla, is now in progress having commenced on March 12 at the Ronald Webster Park.

The Annual Ashley & Sons Road Relay, for the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, and the six Government Primary Schools, went smoothly on Sunday, March 6, with many children, wearing t-shirts in memory of the late Mr. Brooks, participating.

The inaugural Tom Wright Memorial Women's Championship Golf Tournament was held on 19th February 2011 at the Temenos Golf Course. Tom Wright, who passed away on the 10th December 2010, was a steadfast supporter of Women's Golf in Anguilla.

The Peter Johnstone Claret Cup 2011 Golf Championship medal play event was held at the Temenos Golf Course on 19th February 2011. This is the Anguilla Golf Association's premier event in the 2011 tournament calendar. A total of 33 golfers participated in the event with three-time winner Theron Loizos topping the field with a low gross score of 79 to become this year's champion and fourth time winner of the Cup.

The 2011 Primary School Volleyball Tournament came to an exciting end on Friday 28th January. Traditional volleyball powers Morris Vanterpool and Orealia Kelly Primary Schools showcased their muscle as they went undefeated in the female and male categories respectively. The Alwyn Allison and the Adrian T Hazell Primary Schools also showed continued improvements by coming second in the male and female categories respectively.

With the start of the new term, Cricket Development Officer, Cardigan Connor, is continuing his training programme for school children, in particular, who are desirous not only of playing the sport, but in ensuring Anguilla’s participation in competitive matches.

The Anguilla Golf Association (AGA) hosted a four person team tournament on Saturday 29th January using the "Waltz" format of play at Temenos Golf Course.

Competitors from four island nations met in Anguilla on Saturday for the Anguilla Dinghy Regatta 2011, an annual event of growing importance and prestige on the Caribbean youth sailing calendar. The four countries were Puerto Rico, St. Barthelemy, St. Maarten and Anguilla. The Regatta was organized by the Anguilla Youth Sailing Club (AYSA), headquartered at Sandy Ground, Anguilla.

On Monday 31st January the seniors boys of Purple and Pink House went head to head in their finals of the inter-house football competition. The fans in the AFA Stadium were treated to an exciting match as Purple denied Pink a victory late in the second half as they scored a goal to put the final tally at 1-0.

The Anguilla Golf Association (AGA) hosted it’s first Tournament of 2011 on Saturday 8th January at Temenos Golf Course. The tournament took the form of “Lone Ranger” format of play.

The Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School is ending its school year with its 20010 Anguilla Football Association-organised, and National Bank of Anguilla-sponsored Tournament, now in progress for the fourth year.

The Male National Football League, sponsored by Caribbean Cable Communications, is now in progress in Anguilla. It began on Sunday, November 21, with a “soccerama” competition.

The National Bank of Anguilla-sponsored 22nd Annual Primary School Football Tournament, which commenced on October 27, has ended with the Orealia Kelly School taking first place in the both girls and boys series of matches.

A brilliant grand final win for the Anguilla Eels Rugby FC on Sunday November 14 in the annual St Martin Archiballs Beach Rugby Tournament.
The Eels (founded in April 2006) have played in the tournament since their inception and were never been able to taste victory.

On Saturday November 6th, three young sailors from The Anguilla Youth Sailing Club competed in the 6th Annual Sol St. Maarten Optimist Championship hosted by the St. Maarten Yacht Club. The regatta, held in Simpson Bay Lagoon, saw seventeen competitors, aged 8 to 14, compete in 9 races. The races were sailed in a one fleet format which was subdivided into two classes: Gold Class included sailors aged 12 years and older, and the Silver Class in which competitors were 11 years and younger.

The National Bank of Anguilla 22nd Annual Primary School Football Tournament is now in progress. The matches commenced on Friday, October 22 on the grounds of the Anguilla Football Association Technical Centre at the Ronald Webster Park Annex.

The Anguilla National team – who departed from Clayton Lloyd International Airport yesterday – was accompanied by Coach, Scott Cooper, who was flown in from England to assist with the training and selection of the team.
