The Annual Primary Schools Road Race sponsored by Tropical Shipping took place on Friday March 18th in The Valley. The competition was in two categories, Juniors (under ten years) a distance of one and a half miles and Seniors (ten years and over), a distance of three mile.

A large enthusiastic crowd witnessed the 10th running of the annual Ashley and Sons Road Relay on Sunday 6th, March. Over 175 students from the seven Primary Schools and the five houses of the A.L.H.C School participated in this feature event on the National Sports calendar. This event is held on the 1st Sunday in March every year as a warm-up to the Sports Days activities for both Primary and Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive Schools.

Anguilla sailing legend Errol Romney of Blowing Point will helm Anguilla’s schooner Charm III in the upcoming 25th Anniversary Heineken Regatta March 4th, 5th & 6th. Errol is one of the premier captains in the Anguilla Race Boat series, piloting De Tree to many victories over the years.

The Jerry Mop Stick Cycling Club held its Second Annual New Year’s races for children and grown-ups at Sandy Ground on Monday, January 3. Phillip Richardson, otherwise known as “Chinee”, who is one of the main organisers of the event, said the aim was to promote cycling on the island and to bring back the New Year’s races which took place in the 1960s and 70s.
