This was a weekend to remember in the CCB sponsored AFFL 2005 Competition. It was filled with drama, surprises and heartbreaks. The first of three matches that were scheduled saw League minnows coming up against the Competition favorites, the Shining Stars. Manchester United has not gotten a single point from its last three matches and has conceded some 13 goals to see them move one place away from fifth in the League standings.

The Anguilla Sailing Association called a meeting of representatives of the National Bank of Anguilla and the Caribbean Commercial Bank to draw lots to decide which of two 12-meter yachts, each operated by the banks, should race on Saturday coming, May 7th. The yachts are the Dennis Conner’s America’s Cup wining Stars & Stripes and the Canadian challenger, True North.

From the kick-off it was end-to-end action between the two teams in Tuesday May 3rd’s CCB sponsored Anguilla Female Football League. With the defending Champions Lil’ Super Stars yet to earn a point in the 2005 Championship and Lil’ Soldiers coming off of a massive victory over League leaders Manchester United on the weekend, both teams were ready to face off. Although it was the defending 2004 champs who made the crisper and more precise passes, the Lil’ Soldiers who were the ones applying the early pressure on goal.
